“Heathland is a friendly and purposeful community that provides a warm welcome for pupils and adults. Pupils benefit from a broad and interesting curriculum and from teachers’ expectations that they will work hard and enjoy school. The teaching is good and pupils achieve well.” (See full report)
I believe Heathland offers a wonderful opportunity for your child to study in an environment where the teacher is allowed to teach without having to cope with behavioural problems. Maximum class sizes of 18 ensure that all pupils receive individual attention, providing a positive learning environment, where even the quietest child is not overlooked. Heathland does not tolerate bullying and fosters a strong relationship with parents. Children throughout the school benefit from the feeling of being part of a large family.
Our Senior Department caters for children from 11 to 16 years, offering a supported transition from primary to senior level and continuing the individual educational plans for each child. We offer up to 12 GCSE’s, with subjects taken early if possible and access to obtaining more practical NVQ’s if appropriate. We also incorporate many of the newer strategies and have an excellent computer suite to facilitate the latest technological advances.
As important as academic achievements are, we recognise that not all children will excel in those areas and so we regard personal development, self-confidence and tolerance as important qualities for children to be taught and so become pleasant, well-balanced people who will make a good contribution to society in the future.
To appreciate what Heathland can offer your child, please come and meet our staff and children.
Yours sincerely,
J. Harrison
